Tempe Town Lake
Tempe Town Lake is an approximately two-mile stretch of the Salt River that passes through the downtown Tempe area. The original east and west dams were made from inflatable rubber bladders. In the summer of 1999 the lake was filled with water from the CAP (Central Arizona Project) water system. In July 2010 a portion of the west dam collapsed and the lake drained. A temporary dam was constructed and the lake was refilled. Construction of a new permanent dam was completed in 2016 and the lake officially reopened on May14th.
